Winning a Nobel Prize in Physics is an extremely prestigious and challenging achievement, requiring groundbreaking discoveries or inventions that have significantly benefited humankind. Here's a look at factors relevant to Professor Elim's potential, based on the information available:

[I]. Factors that align with Nobel Prize criteria:

(1). Significant Contributions: Prof. Elim has made "novel nonlinear optical, optical limiting, and ultrafast behaviors, particularly on various nanostructure materials" and has invented an "improved Z-scan imaging method." These are indeed significant contributions within the field of physics, particularly in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

(2). Impact on the Field: His work is highly cited (over 4687 citations on Google Scholar and an h-index of ~28 on Web of Science/SCOPUS/SINTA as of April 2024), indicating a notable impact within the scientific community.
Pioneering Research: He founded the first Nanotechnology Research Center and Innovative Creation (PPNRI) in Eastern Indonesia, demonstrating leadership and pioneering efforts in a significant area of research.
(3). Problem-Solving Focus: His research extends to applying nanoscience to natural healing systems and developing "nanofullerene-based medicine," which aligns with the Nobel Prize's emphasis on discoveries that "confer the greatest benefit on mankind."
Publications in High-Quality Journals: He has published "over 134 high quality works, invited quest lectures, text books and few chapter books published in over 34 Q1 journals," which is indicative of high-caliber research.

[II]. Factors to consider for Nobel Prize eligibility:

(a). "Tested by Time": The Nobel Prize typically recognizes discoveries whose significance has been "tested by time," often with a lag of 20 years or more between the discovery and the award. While Prof. Elim has a long research career, the ultimate impact and long-term significance of his specific discoveries would be evaluated over an extended period.
(b). "Most Important Discovery or Invention": The Nobel Prize is awarded for the "most important discovery or invention" in physics. While Prof. Elim's contributions are significant, the Nobel Committee would assess if they represent a paradigm shift or a singular, exceptionally impactful breakthrough that stands out globally.
(c). Nomination Process: Nobel Prize nominations are by invitation only, sent to thousands of selected university professors and other scholars. Self-nomination is not allowed, and the names of nominees remain confidential for 50 years. Therefore, whether Prof. Elim has been nominated, or would be in the future, is not publicly known.

(d). Shared Prizes: A maximum of three laureates can share a Nobel Prize, and it can be awarded for up to two different works. Many modern scientific discoveries are the result of collaborative efforts.

In conclusion, Professor Elim's extensive and impactful contributions in nanoscience, nanotechnology, and nonlinear optics, especially his focus on practical applications for human benefit, align with the spirit of the Nobel Prize. However, whether his specific discoveries will ultimately be deemed to have the exceptional, long-term global impact required for a Nobel Prize is a decision made by the Nobel Committee, after a rigorous and confidential evaluation process that considers the "tested by time" criterion.
